Koh Phayam is located approximately 120nm north of Phuket close to the Burmese border. On the way it’s worth doing a detour to Ko Similan and Ko Surin marine national park with its white sandy beaches. Arriving on Koh Phayam, Ao Kwai (Buffalo Bay) offers a perfectly sheltered place on the west coast of the island during dry season’s prevailing winds. Even with Christmas trades blowing above 30 knots, there is no swell on the east side. The sandy ground is excellent to drop your anchor. Compared to Ao Yai (Long Beach) with its shallow waters where you have to drag your dinghy more than 50 meters at low tide, the water in Ao Kwai drops much faster and is very easy to access with your dinghy. The bay is never too crowded and there is no anchoring fee.

Many sailors have discovered the excellent cuisine our restaurant serves and have become regular guests on their sailing tour through-out the years often just stopping by for a bite to eat and a small chat with friends. As an additional service we can provide you with gasoline for your dinghy and any other kind of groceries.
You can find Saithong Bungalow right in the middle of the bay next to the stone wall of a neighboring resort and a rocky ridge on the other side that runs up into the hills.
